Frequently Asked Questions

I am a skilled Cognitive Hypnotherapist and Coach, committed to providing a professional service where clients feel safe, respected, and valued. Below, I have addressed many common questions, but please contact me for detailed information or specific inquiries about my services.

  • Hypnotherapy is often misunderstood; it is actually a form of self-hypnosis. This means it's a normal state where our actions are influenced by our unconscious mind. We often get stuck thinking about our problems in a trance-like state, sometimes reflecting on past events, which is called time distortion. By understanding how we think about our issues, we can break unhelpful habits and tap into our healing abilities. Essentially, hypnosis helps change our usual patterns to focus on solutions instead of problems.

  • All trance is within your control because all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. This means you can open your eyes and get up at any stage. You will not be made to say or do or feel anything you do not want to.

  • Hypnosis is different for everyone but usually 'being in trance' feels like a deeper form of relaxation. You may feel quite chilled out, and experience a sense of being between states of wakefulness and sleep. Generally your senses are heightened which may give you the ability to tune into what is going on both around you and within you more easily.

  • NLP, or Neuro-Linguistic Programming, explores how our thoughts (Neuro) and communication (Linguistic) influence our behavior (Programming). It examines whether these connections positively or negatively affect us. Similar to Cognitive Hypnotherapy, NLP offers techniques to understand the strong link between mind and body, helping us achieve a better balance in our lives.

  • Our first meeting is a free consultation lasting about 30 minutes. This is a chance for us to meet and for you to explain any problems you are facing. I will gather details and answer your questions to help you decide if Cognitive Hypnotherapy is right for you. If you choose to continue, our first therapy session will last 60-75 minutes and will use the information from our initial meeting. You will learn techniques to manage and change your problem, giving you insight into your experiences. We will use light trance and guided meditations to help with difficult issues. After the session, I will create a personalised WordWeaving® recording for you to listen to between sessions. These recordings are based on what you share and are meant to support our work and help you move closer to your goals. Many clients find these recordings useful for making the changes they desire.

  • Many clients come to therapy hoping to be "fixed" by someone else. Cognitive Hypnotherapy is different because we collaborate to help you realise your own ability to heal. You shift from thinking you need something external to believing you have what you need to manage your issues. This method encourages independence and strength, often leading to better results than expected.

However, I can't guarantee outcomes since everyone is unique. Some may need more time to process their experiences, while others may find solutions faster. My role is to guide you in using your self-hypnosis skills, so you take charge of your success at your own pace. I promise to support you throughout your journey, and I ask that you remain open and committed to the process.

  • Everyone is different, so it's hard to say how many sessions a client might need. Some may need more time to discuss their issues before using techniques, while others are ready sooner.

Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy focuses on solutions and works at your pace. I offer three payment options: one session, a pack of 4, or a pack of 10. If clients are unsure which to choose, I usually recommend the pack of 4. This allows more time to explore their issues and learn ways to handle them without the stress of solving everything in one session.

  • There are no harmful side effects to Cognitive Hypnotherapy. You may, however, feel tired and/ or sleepy after our sessions and listening to the WordWeaving® recordings. This is completely normal as your brain is processing the work we have done together.
